Default questions about clocking sc48 to other digital devices.

hey all,

I'm currently working for a band and they use a digidesign eleven guitar rack and i want to run the AES output into the sc48's digital input on an AES cable.

I also want to go AES in to my lake processor from the sc48's AES out.

Can anyone tell me how to properly clock these devices? I know the sc48 has a word clock out but none of the devices accept word clock on a BNC.

Thanks,

Zack.

Doesn't AES embed the clock into the stream?

Are you recording or just doing live? I don't know about how good the clock in 11R is, but clock in SC48 is very good and I would personally rather clock the other devices to it not the other way around so I would not compromise the overall sound.

Hi Zack,

Nearly all digital devices can accept an incoming AES signal without needing a separate word clock connection. The benefits from having an all-digital signal path can be quite noticeable, and would likely outweigh any additional small benefit to be had from using a complex clocking scheme.
