Ok, Can't afford a new Dualie G5 with 64 bit processing and the '002 desk / rack, I'm stuck with my '001. Don't get me wrong, I love it!

I have a PowerBook 1Ghz. If I were to invest in a MBox, would I be able to mix sesions in PT LE 6.7 from sessions recorded in '001, in 6.7 MBox LE should I buy one of these little babies? On the proviso that MBox supports 6.7.

You can work with sessions from the Digi001 without a problem so I would definitely go for the Mbox. You just need to make sure you are using a firewire HD with your Powerbook.

I'm sure that Digi will incour lots of abuse from not keeping the faith with '001 users in this forum. If LE6,7 works with Mbox, on G4 chips whats the delay with '001 users.

I havn't done my homework properly, but I'm assuming MBox supports LE 6.7. Correct me if I'm wrong.

If it does, can i load my PB 1Ghz & my G4 PowerMac with the same software?

There is no delay, digi stated ages ago when they released it that PTLE 6.4 would be the last version to support the 001, same as PT TDM 6.4 would be the last version to support MIX systems. They stopped manufacturing & selling 001's even before that, so this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone who's been paying attention.

Most of it has already come and gone from when the announcement was first made. However, just because 6.7 is being released doesn't mean that 6.4 won't work anymore with your 001 - they haven't broken anything for you, why are you so upset? If you feel that you must have 6.7 because 6.4 isn't working for you, then get yourself an Mbox, which is supported under 6.7 (did you read the press release? - Pro Tools 6.7 software requires a Digidesign-approved Pro Tools|HD, Pro Tools|HD Accel, Digi 002, Digi 002 Rack or Mbox system running on Windows XP or Mac OS X. )

Of course, but you can only run PT the one that the Mbox is attached to.

Either your 001 works with 6.4 now or it doesn't, how is this "yet to be seen?"

It's not a "delay", it's just not goinna happen...and as has already been pointed out in this thread, this isn't recent news.

As for why...it probably has something to do with the fact that the 001 has been discontinued for some time now, and isn't compatible with any of the currently-available Apple computers. I think that most users would rather see Digidesign putting their efforts into development of new and current products rather than discontinued systems running on discontinued computers.

And it's true, there's nothing "yet to be seen"...it works now, what could change that would make it not work later?

So I guess the question is whether Digi did something intentionally to 6.7 to make it not run on the 001 (where it would have otherwise), or did they *not* do something to 6.7 that would have made it compatible with the 001 (that would have taken some effort, or would have been impossible for hardware reasons). Unless you know the 001 REALLY well from an engineering (electrical as opposed to audio)standpoint, you'll probably never know.

Digi did intentionally make 6.7 not support the 001. 6.4 was the last version that will support the 001 and MIX systems. They have to cut support somewhere, and they chose to do it there. They're moving along, like all buisinesses do. Apple doesn't still support the old Performas, but i don't see anyone questioning that desicion.
