I'll reserve judgement for now and of course I hope that whatever they present is great but my kneejerk reaction is that I would much rather they focus on bug fixes, UI modernization and the long list of oft-requested features.

Cheers!

p.s.#Lockdown sucks.

🤦🏻*♂️, that’s another sign Avid don’t listen to their customers.

I think Avid will release an ‘attractively’ priced Thunderbolt 3 DSP acceleration box.

This in the hope that plugin developers will start porting over their plugins to the AAX DSP format also giving their HDX system more cachet. HDX compatible plugins are relatively scarce.

Any guesses about whether such a device would support the standard version of Pro Tools?

This is one of the best jokes I’ve heard.

New video

Looks like a major graphics overhaul or at least Mac OS Dark mode support.

The best thing of PT has always been its clear and simple interface to me. Hope they didn't mess up all the things.

Oh boy! Nice. Hope we get drag and drop audio from timeline to VI, updated elastic audio algorithm, ARA 2 support, MIDI updates, no track limits!

The UI and technology stack it's been using has needed an update for a long while (no that does not mean breaking how things nicely work).... that could be really great to see. If that is also targeting cleanup for macOS 11 and arm that would be fantastic if that's a part of the announcement. And that might all be leaping to conclusions, but we'll see. OTOH if Avid don't provide some info on Arm futures at all in any major anncements of new things I'll be mightilly unimpressed... especially as this happens a few days after the event where Apple is expected to unveil the first Arm Macs (I hope Avid is on the ball and that timing is not an accident ).
