iPad connects with Wifi.
Pro Tools computer should be connected to the same network, but that can be a wired ethernet connection.

You can use the USB adapter with an Ethernet adapter and put the iPad on the network hardwired.

How the iPad is connected to the network is irrelevant. It is WIFI being turned in on the Pro Tools machine that is in question.

But the point is 'if WiFi must be turned off when using PT then why does Avid produce products which require WiFi?'

The hardwired connection to an iPad running the Control app is a workaround, not standard protocol.

Ya trying to visualize and drawing a blank.... Not to mention the fact that if your going to be wired then might was well just use the keyboard . Seems to me the entire point of using an iPad is to have a mobile non wired connection to PT so that for example when a one man show (like I am) I can control the recording transport functions from my recording spot and not have to run back to the recording desk /keyboard every time I start,stop,erase etc. while recording myself singing/playing guitar

Which By the way I have been doing since PT 10 and now 2018.2 with my old Ipad and V Control Pro with no noticeable issues ????????

He's saying that you can connect your iPad to your network via WiFi but have your Mac connected to that same network via ethernet -- with its Wifi turned off -- and the PT Connect app will still talk to ProTools. That allows you to move the iPad around your studio, wirelessly.

And yes I realize that it's possible -- that's how I've had my Control app configured for 5 years.

We know we would not get a good thing in the next version of Pro Tools versus a lot of money we pay
I think I did the right thing.
1- I unfollowed all Avid accounts in Twitter, instagram, youtube
2- My subscription is over and not thinking about renewing now and in the future
no folder track!
no Midi enhancement!
no ARA!
So why do I renew my subscription?
Frankly, Avid you let me hate you and you Made me lose confidence in you
This is not only my opinion . even my engineers friends join me .
