ProTools 12 "input" tab of i/o window everything is grey?

In the Audio Midi Setup "Audio Devices" window, are there 2 instances of Scarlett Solo?
If so, here is Focusrite's help page to try to fix that issue:

No, i didnt make a backup ive had this system for 5 months now ( i know still no excuse) let me read into this perhaps i have to downgrade my OS somehow! This is happening to lots of people! John ive performed all those steps except for the audio midi setup looking in to that now.

Not sure if this is right what do you guys think? If it isnt this midi window then by process of elimination its the OS upgrade i did yesterday

This looks like exactly the bug that is described on the Focusrite Help page that I linked to. 2 instances of the device, one with no inputs, and one with no outputs. Definitely go to the Focusrite page I linked to and follow their steps and see if that helps.

1) what OS did you upgrade from ??

2) AMS (audio midi setup) .. it is odd that you have 2 entries in there .. can you try something for me ..

3) 1st select the Scarlett that has the 2 outs ..

4) then below on the Sproket looking thing with the downward arrow .. choose use this device for output .. does that then make that Scarlett have both in and out !! microphone and speaker symbols ???

the issue is you have a scarlett for in and one for out ..

the only other way is to use the Aggregate and make sure both scarletts ar chosen .. me not owning a scarlett i am not sure if that is how it should work ..

but it could be 2 separate devices .. and the aggregate would bring them together for PT to see just one device .. for in and out

You guys i fixed it thank you so much for that link!!!! Woo Hoo! apparently upgrading to sierra 10.12.5 makes the audio midi setup all wacky. You literally have to go in there and create an aggregate device and choose the input and output. Its a workaround and worked perfectly for me after i chose the aggregate as device in my playback engine. IF ANYONE IS HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR SCARLETT AND OS UPGRADE CONTACT ME i will walk you through it. Im so thankful for you guys, seriously made my day. Now im off to finish the aforementioned project ONE LOVE!!!

Glad we could help! john1192 has been on here helping and testing on almost every thread. He deserves major props!! FYI, while the Aggregate Device settings helped and are working for now, Aggregate Device setups have been known to not be very stable overall with Pro Tools. So once your project is finished and you have some downtime, it would probably be good to revisit Focusrite's help page and try their firmware update and see if it gets rid of the duplicate/split driver issue. Tthat will probably be a better working setup for the long term. Good luck on your project!

thats great info about the firmware .. thx for sharing that .. i hope that can work as one device .. i do not care for the aggregate either ..
