11.1.2 quits nearly everytime i close a session

Title says it all, PT quits nearly everytime i close a session. It happens since version 11.1.
I trashed preferences aso, but it didn't help.
Some sessions do not force quit PT after closing them, some do.
And some sessions do both, closing normal (keeping PT alive), or force quit PT.
Until now i couldn't figure out, what's the reason behind it. It also doesn't matter if i use plugins or not.

Yes, i do know that i have an unsupported OS, 10.9.1, but it happend with 10.9.0 also.
I don't blame Avid, i just want to know if anyone else has this problem.

Haven't looked into it but i sent every single crash report (that one which opens automaticly after a crash) to Avid.
I noticed that the PT Quicktime Helper is quite often unreponsive in the Activity Monitor. Maybe this is it.
btw., Avid Video Engine is turned off.

Any other usage patterns that you notice with these different sessions?
For example; If the session isn't doing much and your session drive sleeps, it could be causing the crash when trying to save.

Can you open a session you know crashes and close it right after opening. Does it still crash?

No, it happens when the session is "active". Mostly i close sessions right after editing/mixing it. I rarely let it open without doing something.

Yes. And it doesn't matter if i save it before closing it or not.

I've had "similar" issues with PT 11 but they all happened after updating other software on my system drive, it seems that some drivers - especially ones that utilise cloud based services - can prevent PT from functioning properly or even booting, have you updated anything recently? I've found that this sort of weirdness is best and fastest solved by simply rolling back to a previous working clone of your system - I keep 2 on hand at all times just in case - I know it's not much help, but it's all I can think of, you might be best to build a fresh system rather than dicking around for ages trying to isolate the problem, also, not sure how your computer is set up, but building a clean minimal system drive with just the stuff you need to do your work - no iPhoto, Office, Photoshop etc - seems to be the best way to ensure smooth sailing (at least in my experience).

You are not alone. I am also having weird (intermittent) crash problems, it sort of correlates to when I close a session. I am not using any cloud programs. I am using Window 7. Pro tools 11.1.2

I am using (latest version of all 24th Feb 2014): Superior drummer, EZmix, Waves (CLA artist, L3 multimaximizer, Kramner Tape). M-audio ultra 8R.

I have un-installed and re-installed all drives and programs.

I will brake it again tonight and get an error report.

Anyone else having these weird issues?

How are you closing sessions - keyboard shortcut or via the menu pull-down? I find PT quits on me more often then not when using the keyboard shortcut on some of my larger (35-50 tracks) sessions with a lot of EW Play and Kontakt 5 vi instances.

Good catch!

Same here. PT11 HD doesn't like it when using heavy Track count and the keyboard shortcuts. If we use the dropdown menu to quit and make sure every GUI is closed on plugins we fair pretty well but as soon as we use shortcuts and/or leave any VI open (GUI) PT crashes 4/7 times. Weird but not that hard of a workaround
