Default Re: Is there sense to use together - HEAT with NLS WAVES ?

Have you used HEAT? We know what the makers and marketing guys say about all of these products. That can all be taken with a grain of salt. How they actually sound is what counts. Don't forget that Waves put the "analog" selected switch on it's CLA and other analog modeling plugins and as a result of asking a Waves employee we found out that all that the switch does is to add 60 and 120 cycle hum, nothing else. The only thing more analog about using it is that the plugins are noisier with the setting set to analog.

Yep, and sadly those plugs default to analog ON which is a PITA

Yah, a total PITA! The good part is, for anyone that is unaware of this option, that you can make a preset that has the analog switch set to off and set it to be the user default. Every time that you then consequently launch the plugin it will open with the switch set to off. If everyone is already aware of this option, well, carry on then.

I've been using Heat for awhile. I'm now using it in PRE mode and there is a hell of a difference vs. post.

I DL'd the demo for NLS this morning, and it took 10 minutes of fiddling around to make me buy it. The combination is FAT FAT FAT.

I've got heat on the individual tracks, and NLS on the busses (stems). Wow. I haven't really explored all the possibilities, but I'm sold. The upper midrange is really like a NEVE. Sounds great.

I use it with VCC all the time. From my undestanding, if you turn HEAT counterclockwise, it saturates like tape. If you turn it clockwise, it simulates TUBE equipment. I always tend to use it counterclockwise. Oh, and I never touch the bottom button (eq). Love it!

From what I know, Heat is all about harmonics. Does NLS really color the sound in the same way?
