Default Is the electric guitar on the outs?

According to this article electric guitar manufacturers are in deep weeds, and sales are way down. Thoughts?

Never happen....problem is they flooded the market with cheap guitars and now they are upside down in the supply and demand.

That's true, I got my last two guitars from pawn shops.

A 2009 American Fender Strat with EMG pickups $800

A $1700 dollar guitar, beautiful I played it for about 4 years straight.....till I got the other one..

....my most recent a 2009 G&L ASAT Classic USA.

Another $1500 guitar and I paid $640 for it, they were both in stellar shape....

Maybe because it requires effort and practice? And most people seem to want to just click the mouse a bunch in some MIDI editor?

I wonder too if the decreasing population of teens has to do with it. There's just fewer 15-20 year olds now than 20 years ago. And that's the time when many got their 1st guitar.

You hit the nail on the head. Kids today don't want to put in the hard work necessary to learn anything really. The only time I use a guitar vi is if I need a 12 string sound - of all the guitars I have I don't have one of those. Other than that - pull out a real one and pick away.
