They wouldn't, at least not intentionally, but that doesn't mean that that they haven't. The initial release of FCP-X, for instance. They do respond to consumer demands when there's that degree of outrage.

QTX isn't it? So what we've been waiting is QTX pro as you said. And once released better give it to the old customers too, not just new App Store purchases

It is probably more constructive to ask what Apple has to gain. I don't know. I don't have an answer to that. Maybe you do? But currently Apple are telling current FCPX/10.14 users to update legacy media before moving to 10.15.

The media isn't legacy. Apple's codecs are. Avid, Adobe and Blackmagic will continue to support a lot of the stuff that Apple isn't moving forward.

I gave Avid one last £99 (which I Know I have wasted to be honest) for another year. This year we've practically had nothing in terms of updates, PT is buggy as hell particularly the incredibly time consuming sample rounding bug in both audio & midi. I'm 100% crossgrading to Studio One and they also have a great deal on until the end of the year!

Avid & PT is so late!

You won’t regret it.
I did the crossgrade about 4 months ago and so glad I did. Got myself a faderport 16 and Atom thrown in for free. All runs like a well oiled machine.

Yes indeed we are overdue.

By comparison, another release from Logic Pro X just arrived.

For those who are unaware, all the updates have all been free to purchasers since Logic Pro X arrived in 2013

Thanks buddy, more & more people I know are using it saying the great things about Studio One. Avid keep shooting themselves in the foot with their money grabbing, not fulfilling ways.

You mean that Logic has an upgrade right after their dev released a new version of their operating system? Shocking.

I'm as frustrated with AVID as the next Pro Tools user but Logic Pro X has never been a good comparison. Part of the cost of admission is buying an Apple computer. LPX development isn't funded by your one-time App Store payment but by margins on the hardware that runs it. Consequently, you're locked into the macOS environment if you want to continue using the DAW. This is meant to drive future hardware sales. For all we know Apple is pushing LPX as a loss-leader with no intention to profit from the sale of the software.
