Slim you forgot to do the Digi promo speech.
You were suppose to say a long time ago it was not possible but NOW you can add the amazing mBox Micro and accomplish that task.

Seriously though mcclark you can run without the 002 but you have to attach the Micro to do it.
It allows you to open/edit/playback but not record.

Or, you could add a few years of history to that promo speech and say, "Back in the day, you COULD run Pro Tools without an interface attached, in a mode known as DAE Powermix. But that went the way of non-realtime bouncing and (insert extinct animal here) with the arrival of v5."

That system is more like a Way back in the day.
That's definitely a system known only in the history archives now.

True true. Just interesting that those features WERE there (along with a SMPTE timeline...and then they vanished!...only to reappear as purchasable options [DV Toolkit...MBox Micro (a small interface that removes the need for a BIGGER one)...

Also it was limited to 44.1 kHz

With the processors of the day, sure. I'm sure today's version would be 'limited' to 96kHz.

And in case anyone feels like saying, "If you don't like ProTools, go use another program", don't bother. I love ProTools, AND I'm working on other programs to do the things I can't do in it (surround mixing, non realtime bouncing (for stuff like 9-hour audiobooks). I just wish I didn't have to spread myself around different programs is all. It's a love thing.
