Default Attention DIGI Support Re: Hardware Exchange

I'm confused regarding the newly increased savings offered in the hardware exchange.

Does it mean that I can send in my Mix core card and pay $2495 for HD1?

-or-

Does it mean that my Mix core card is worth $2495 towards the purchase of HD1?

-also-

Where is the $1500 savings? Do I add $1500 to the $2495 to determine my savings, or has it already been calculated?

Sorry for all the questions, but the hardware exchange page doesn't make any of this clear.

The $1500-$2000 savings are the special price reductions off of the normal exchange prices:
http://www.digidesign.com/news/details.cfm?story_id=820
Quote:
Through June 30, 2004, exchange your Pro Tools|24 or Pro Tools|24 MIX system for a Pro Tools|HD 2 or 3 Accel system and save an additional $2,000 off the regular Hardware Exchange list prices. Or exchange to Pro Tools|HD 1 and save an additional $1,500.
You need to talk to your local Digidesign dealer for your actual cost and full details, but here are the basics...

The exchange prices on the exchange page are suggested list prices for your total cost to exchange older hardware for HD hardware:
http://www.digidesign.com/exchange/hd_mix.cfm

Pro Tools|24 MIX to Pro Tools|HD = 2,495

You exchange your MIX core card for an HD Core card for a list price of $2,495.
(If your Mix system is a refurbished system, the exchange price is higher, because the refurbished MIX systems sold for thousands less)

The HD 1 system lists for $7995:
http://www.digidesign.com/products/hd/systems/core.cfm

In addition, you get the bundled plug-ins included with purchases of new core systems:
http://www.digidesign.com/products/hd/

Plus if you do it by March 31st, you also get the Bomb Factory HD 1 Exchange bundle:
http://www.digidesign.com/exchange/bf/

Also keep in mind that you will need an HD interface. From the Pro Tools|HD Compatibility Documents:

Digidesign HD Audio Interfaces (one required)

* 192 I/O
* 192 Digital I/O
* 96 I/O
* 96i I/O

These can be purchased separately, or exchanges from all MIX audio interfaces are also available in the PRO TOOLS|HD PERIPHERALS section of the exchange page:
http://www.digidesign.com/exchange/hd_mix.cfm

I had a PT 24 and upgraded to a Mix plus. Now I see that a PT mix refurbished has a smaller value than a PT24 to enter HD/Accel world? ($1000 to $2000 price difference)!!!!
It does not make much sense!!

Pro Tools MIX and Pro Tools|24 owners both originally paid more than MIX Refurbished owners for their hardware. The exchange program recognizes that and the prices reflect that accordingly.

Regular MIX and MIX Refurbished products were fairly recent products, even sold simultaneously for a brief time, at different prices. So this doesn't mean that really expensive Pro Tools III or SoundTools systems from 10 years ago hold the same sort of original price point trade in value.

Digi, I made the hardware exchange from Mix to HD3 Accel in late December 2003.
Do I also get the BF bundle that comes with this exchange now? Sounds to me like I should because I even paid $2000 more than it would cost me now 6 weeks later...

Digi,

Does this promotion mean that there is a new "Core Accel" card around the corner? I seem to remember that Mix3 came out shortly before HD too.

Not that it would necessarily make the offer less attractive, but I'd just like to have a choice.

Cheers, Bob.

Hi Bob,

Digidesign has no current plans to release an "Accel Core" card.
