Rewire & 6.1 NO Reason Channels?

I have just updated to 6.1 and have Reason 2.5 on my Mac. When I select the Reason plugin in the insert on a channel it launches Reason but shows a dialogue " No Reason channels active" - a rewire mixer has been found , but no Reason audio channels are activated. Please activate at least one channel."
So then I go back to the Rewire plugin and select an output next to where it says Reason, then i relaunch Reason again and the same dialogue pops up?
I am getting frustrated!!!
Can Anyone help???

check you midi connections in the reason prefs.
how did you have reason connected to your computer before? via usb through a midi hub?
you now need to plug into your 002 or 001/mbox or whatever and change the midi prefs in reason to reflect this. after that you should be fine.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">Well it sounds like you're doing it wrong.. the phrase "then i relaunch Reason again" hints that you're not letting the Pro Tools ReWire plug-in start the Reason app as it's meant to do. If you search the TDM forum, you should be able to find a post I made recently which describes how to use the Reason plug-in.

Thanks for your replys. I do launch the Reason plugin from Protools and this is when it gives this message. I think select a channel in the plugin and nothing happens?

Jake - so let's break this down...

1. Make sure that Reason is not running.
2. Start Pro Tools 6.1
3. Create a new session
4. Create 1 stereo track
5. Instantiate the Reason plug-in on the stereo track
6. Reason should start on its own
7. In the plug-in after Reason has started, assign the Reason outputs to Mix L+R
8. In Reason create a device and assign it to outputs Mix L+R.

If you follow these steps what happens.. In step 6 does Reason start on its own?

If this doesn't work.. then reinstall Reason and don’t move any Reason files from where the installer placed them (for instance if you wanted to be able to start Reason from the desktop.. make an alias there.. don’t drag the actual app to the desktop).

Hi Rail,
I have followed the steps in your list and Reason opens but displays the message as I stated in my originall post and when I click OK it quits? I don't get chance to change things in reason.

Hmm.. I'd still try reinstalling Reason.

I have reinstalled Reason and it now works fine. Thanks for your help - sometimes one feels mad when you try to sort things out!
