Default Which digidesign approved Computer for PCI HD3?

Which system of the digidesign approved stuff does have 3 consecutive pci slots? It looks like the Dell 690 doesn't but the HP xw8400 does?? The information on their websites is very minimal - no image of the interior layout.

Hi Black030,
I'm running a xw9300. I really like this comp but it is a really loud comp. It has to be in another room or isolated. I'm sure the xw8400 will be the same. Really loud. Most people say the dells are really silent. I don't know personally. Also, you can find the internal layout on the HP web page. It's very hard to find but it's there. Look a little harder. In general, the HP's are built very well and are very easy to work on. I highly recommend them.
Peace,
Brandon

that distresses me a little - did you ever tried to swap the fans for quieter ones?

Digidesign says in their compato list about the 690 that there are in fact 3 PCI slots but one of them is only 32-bit. That should degrade the possible maximum performance of the HD3. Ideal would be three 64-bit (and more) pci slots. The only computer recommended by digidesign I found, for the HD3, is the HP xw8400 - if you don't want to go with a Magma expansion chassis.

Hi,

I'd say Digi are very aware of the lack of motherboards with enough slots to keep us happy. So I guess that is why they are currently pushin these chassis'.

I run a HD4 in an older 7 slot chassis and it works great!

All the best,

Big D

Try this one:
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...82E16813186058 web page

You can thank me later.

It's not on digi's offical list but might have been if Foxconn didn't recently discontinue it. I'm using an HD3 PCIe with it and it has indivual PCIe busses in it that don't get shared by any other resources internally. It's rockin... and it's $144

I know 2 other HD users on that same board too. No issues at all, very under rated company and overlooked board.

Good Luck!
