Default Validation loop

Hey everyone,

Has anyone had a problem with an 002 "dis-communicating" with a session ("Pro Tools cannot communicate with the Digi002"), and then entering a validation loop where you get the validation text followed by only one dot (.) and then locking up there? If I give a knock it comes back to life and adds the 2 other dots (. .) and then goes into the session. It happens even when my PC is off, (only without the "Pro Tools cannot communicate with the Digi002" popup box). It'll just start the validation sequence again and again with slight fadar noises and a dead stick. It also does it when running an LED "All On" test. All of the LEDs come on, then all go out (except the mute LED) and then the fadars start clicking, then into the validation loop, loading, fadars clicking, blank screen and the validating all over again. Is this something to do with the Power harness cable??? that I've read about here in the DUC? Anybody know the warranty on something like that?
Thanks, Ted
PS Of course I tried emailing Digi but their email server's down tonight.

System version v 1.07 Sum=CBF5 Firmware
Boot version b1.00 Sum=47E6 Firmware
Fadar version v1.05a

Yes, this is a known problem. There is a bad power harness in your 002. Call tech support and they'll send out a new one the next day. It is really easy to install and will fix your problems.

Thanks, Brian.

I purchased the unit on 12/19/02. Will they (Digi) give me a hassle about this time frame? Or is this a known defect that they are aware of and should have notified us about? Also, what's the warranty period for the 002? I couldn't find it anywhere. Have they said that it voids the warranty if I should replace the harness?

No, they know all about it. I wish I knew a percentage of the units that were bad. (seems like nearly %50 at times) Its been such a large problem that they prefer you to do the fix yourself and promise you that if you follow their instruction it will remain under warranty. They'll have one at your doorstep tomorrow if you call today.
