Default Feature Request: Temporary Group equivalent to Nuendo's Quick Link

I know that Avid Link's Feature Request Lounge is the preferred place to post feature requests, but I've never gotten along with Avid Link, and I have read on here recently that the Feature Lounge is broken on Avid Link (not sure if that's been fixed or not).

I am definitely not trying to start a Nuendo vs PT war, as I have been using PT for the past 25+ years. There are pros and cons to both programs, but I recently had to take over another person's project that was started in Nuendo, and there was one thing I absolutely loved in Nuendo: Quick Link. There is a button you can press in the mix window that allows any selected/highlighted tracks to be temporarily grouped. This worked for automation enables, fader levels, pans, inserts, sends, etc. If this was implemented in PT, the "temporary group" (I am guessing "Quick Link" is trademarked by Steinberg) could use the global group attributes, or even have a separate preference set of attributes. It made quickly automating a subset of tracks in a wider food group or folder really quick and easy.

Love the idea.

FYI. There’s currently a soundflow script that does this, but its a bit slow and hacky. Would love if something like this was built in

If you search for temporary group it's been talked about quite a few times here on the DUC.

Sorely needed feature.

I have a group called “temp” that I use and update and/or completely replace tracks as and when needed for particular moves. It sort of does the job, if a little clunky.

Yeah, I've seen it mentioned here in the past. But it's been a while, and my getting to experience the convenience of using it is fresh. so I thought I'd give it a mention.
I agree this would be a welcome addition to the PT workflow.

I make temp groups all the time, but it is indeed clunky. A quick group feature would be really convenient.

Oh yeah I’m in total agreement with you, sorry probably should have made that clearer.

I also imagine being able to select and lasso several faders together for a one-off quick “turn these all up together” action, but I’m probably on my own on that one.

Yeah, this was brought up like 10 years ago. As well as a floating clip window and clip folders.

Quick group shouldn't be that hard to make. Even if there was a QK that would delete the group of the selected tracks would make sense as a quick workaround Before making a more elegant solution.

Great group, work, put cursor on tracks, QK delete group.
