I found the buzz. It is coming from the PSU!!! TR2 RX 750

Separated that puppy from the case and it's buzzing all by itself. This explains why the session ran fine @ 64 with the buzz. The mobo is fine

Could it be a bad part that a simple exchange would solve, or are their any other better choices for a PSU for i7?

Like I said about 1000 times before this company should be called TremalFAKE. If you can replace it with a Seasonic, Enermax, or some other top quality brand.

way to trouble-shoot that rig bro!!! +1 on Corsair. my 520 has been solid for over 2 yrs now. mano listed some excellent brands too. good to know is was NOT the mobo tho. and no need to update the bios now either well unless you see somethin' you need in the newer one. anyway, don't mess around with the parts for the current PSU...a new one is where it's at

Yeah that corsair unit is good. Even a 650W would be more than enough.

I've been following the AHCI discussion here and I think I have it installed correctly in Windows 7/64 but was hoping someone could clarify the steps:

1.I ran the setup off the Gigabyte CD in the GSATA folder - I'm assuming that's what loads the correct drivers for AHCI?

2.Rebooted Windows and GIGABYTE GBB36X Controller now appears in Device Manager under Storage Controllers

3.Entered BIOS and chose AHCI on the Integrated Peripherals screen under "ICH SATA Control Mode" and "Onboard SATA/IDE Ctrl Mode"

4.Booted into Windows and new hardware was detected for all the hard drives and CD/DVD drives

Is that all there is to it? Am I running with AHCI now? Also, I read in a thread here that the Intel Matrix Storage Manager was also required - should I install it? Thanks in advance!

if you go into device mgr and check the ATA controller setting and it shows SATA AHCI then you are all set
