Default Cannot get 5.1 tracks or output paths in Pro Tools 6.4.1

I am setting up an used Pro Tools system which consists of:

- Power Mac g4
- 888-24 I/O
- USD
- Pro Tools 6.4.1 software

However, I cannot get the option of creating tracks or I/O paths in formats other than mono or stereo, and we're setting up a 5.1 room. I was told that 5.1 tracks were available since Pro Tools software version 5, so what am I doing wrong?

Thanks,

Bernardo

Put Surround Mixer plugin in your plugins folder and move Stereo Mixer to unused plugins folder. Should help.

Hi Berrado,

look into your Plug-In folder on your harddrive. Is there a surround mixer plug in installed?

If not look on your install cd. you can drag the surround mixer plug in from your cd into the harddrive folder.

Good luck.

Ok, so I did this, and when I try to start Pro Tools I get the message:

"Pro Tools with TDM requires the TDM Mixer Plug-In in the Plug-Ins Folder"

And Pro Tools fails to start.

I can´t seem to find this plugin anywhere, is my problem really that one?

Once again, now I have the Surround Mixer plug-in in my Plug-Ins folder, and the Stereo Mixer in my Unused Plug Ins folder.

btw, thanks, guys

Confirm again that Mixer Plug-In is in the Plug-Ins Folder.
Trash Digi Setup & DAE preferences, than restart.

Let us know..

You need to leave the stereo mixer in the plug-ins folder along with the surround mixer.

That's how I first did it, but it still gave me only Mono and Stereo as options, surround did not show up.

The surround mixer plug in is definitely in the folder, though. I'll try thrashing the preferences and Digi Setup, even though I have re-installed Pro Tools in this computer about three times now, to no results.

OK, tried thrashing Digi Setup and Pro Tools Preferences, still got no Surround. What can I be missing here?

Have you gone to your I/O set up and created a 5.1 path? Otherwise the default of PT is mono and stereo. The rest you have to define what you want it to be.

Yes, everytime I did any of the changes suggested here I tried it, and when I created a new path my options were only Mono or Stereo, even If I deleted all I/O (including busses) and tried to start from scratch.
