Default Auto-rename - in order maybe?

Does anyone know how to get Pro Tools to work in such an off-the-wall, unique way, as to actually, you know, rename the selected regions IN THE RIGHT ORDER?

I know it's an insane request, but as I have literally thousands of files to generate, I need auto-rename each region on a track as 0001, 0002, 0003 etc. etc. I thought I had missed bits in my editing, until I looked at the PT project and saw instances of 0087, 0088, 0083, 0089...

Thanks.

There is an amazing piece of shareware that does this.
It's called "A better finder rename". Easy and effective.

Hi,

thanks, but I need to export each file from PT in correct order of the track, so that each segment from left to right is numbered 0001, 0002, 0003, all the way up to, in today's case, around 1900.

I then later batch rename these files using a text list of long filenames (it's for an interactive project), using Ant Renamer on the PC.

So I take it there's no, simple way to export files in a linear order?

There is a way around this problem:
  • select all regions
  • choose the Duplicate AudioSuite plugin
  • set it to "Region by region"
  • process
  • use Batch rename from the regions list menu

First go to regions menu -> sort by-> User time stamp

Now you can auto-rename correctly.
