Access Violation occurred

Hello,

When exporting a region to .mp3 using mp3option, I get "Access Violation occurred". If I close and reopen the session, it usually goes away. If not, I'll close the session, shut down Pro Tools, launch Pro Tools, open the session, and it'll work fine.

I'm using PT 7.4 on XP. I've had no issues like this on mp3option since I started using it over 4 years ago, so I'm kinda suprised. Any idea what this could mean?

I used to have a similar issue and after trashing the databases and preferences (serveral times) it finally went away. I think there is a digi tech support doc on how to do it correctly.

The most irritating thing is the window that just offers OK, I remember thinking, why am I agreeing to this?
Fortunately I haven't had to deal with this in some time. But yes trashing prefs. is a good start

I don't understand; I've got pt 8cs3 le and it still has the same access violation problem known back in pt 7. Why haven't they fixed this thing? Why still do I have to go in and delete these folders time and time again wasting my and everyone else's precious time?

so the problem is in the registry? What product is a good registry cleaner and are you sure that's where the problem is. Everytime I get ride of the databases and dae preferences it works ONCE; then I have to close pt and get rid of those things again. They have got to get a fix for this. I spoke with tech support and besides constantly deleting these folders they did not have a permament solution. That ain't right.

Access violations can be caused by quite a number of different issues, including but not limited to, out of date and/or "unsupported" plugins, compressed files on the hard drive, hard drive errors, unsupported hardware, etc.

So, some quick things to check;

1. Make sure all of your plugins are up to date, valid versions
2. make sure you are using the latest version of the PACE driver from www.paceap.com
3. check your hard drive for errors
4. Check to make sure the drive is not full
5. Check to make sure that the drive and/or it's folders has not been compressed (running the Windows "Disk Cleanup" on a drive can cause this)

If those having this problem could please post a plugin list using the utility in the Tech Support Folder, That will allow us to identify any plugins that you have that may be causing this problem due to being out of date or unsupported.

Amplitube 1 is not officially supported for PT8. I know... it was free way back when. But you should seriously consider upgrading it, or even ditching it. Eleven is better anyway.

While 5.9.7 is qualified by Digi for use with PT8, most users (including myself) have not been successful getting 5.x versions of waves plugins working in any kind of stable fashion in PT8. I would recommend upgrading to the 6.x version, even if it means paying your WUP fee.

This is something strange... this does not appear on any of my PT8 version reports; on all 3 of my PT8 machines. I use the ASIO drivers every day on all 3 machines.
Did you perhaps install the standalone ASIO drivers? If so, you should not have. The standalone drivers are for standalone installations using Digidesign hardware without Pro Tools being installed. Having both installed can considerably screw up your system.
