Slow playback on protools
Hi!. When I playback in protools the tempo is slow and when I bounce it to the disk the tempo is normal. The metronome is set to 120 but it sound slower than that when I playback. Why is that?

Re: Slow playback on protools
Describe the setup. Could it be a clocking issue? Is it just the tempo, or is the pitch off as well(as in lower).

Re: Slow playback on protools
I'm using Windows 7 Enterprise x64 and the Mbox 3rd with Pro Tools LE 8. I checked again and the pitch is lower too. What do you mean by a clocking issue?

Re: Slow playback on protools
The Mbox control panel is showing Sample Rate: 96000, Clock Source: Internal, Buffer Size(Latency): 512.

Re: Slow playback on protools
Hmm....I seem to remember some 3rd generation Mboxes had a clocking issue so maybe check with the dealer on this. Clocking sets the sample rate, so if its not consistent, then pitch and speed will vary. If a session is recorded at 96K but plays back at 88.2K, it will be slower and lower. When you patch digital devices together(like connecting a SPDIF mic preamp to the SPDIF input of the Mbox) there needs to be one master clock, or you will get clicks and pops in the tracks(are you using anything on the SPDIF input?). If the Mbox has nothing coming in via the SPDIF, then I wonder if the Mbox needs a repair or replacement. If you DO have something coming into the Mbox SPDIF input, then that device might not be set to 96K(this is also a typical goof that most of us make as we get started with DAW use...I know I made this goof).
BTW, I'm not sure that the Enterprise version of Windows 7 is supported

Re: Slow playback on protools
i am having the same trouble with my sessions playing at a slower speed and lower pitch. i've never had this problem until today, and have owned my mbox 3 for just over a year. i do not recall making any adjustments the bit depth or sample rate to my sessions -- i always use 44.1 and 16 bit settings. i have also tried importing session data into a new session and applying SRC but to no avail. can anyone confirm reports of this clocking issue? thanks
