Default 50fps session?

I have been asked to mix a documentary and apparently it will be edited and was shot using a 50fps frame rate. How do I deal with this in ProTools? I haven’t found that frame rate as an option. I have only worked at 25fps. They will be supplying an AAF.

Thanks

Hi Scott,

You can't set the main counter or ruler to 50FPS but you can set the second ruler to 50FPS. You can then set your grids to 1/2 frames if you want a grid on every 50FPS frame.

On a side note, if you will need to re-conform for picture changes during your sound post, EdiLoad can re-cut your session at 50FPS.

Regards,

Mark

Thanks Mark.

I don't think I'll be needing a grid I just wanted to be sure that the session and the video file they supply play at the correct speed.

Yes. Just set the main frame rate to 25FPS and PT will play the video at 100% speed and you just edit and mix as usual. The movie info on the video track should display 50FPS.

Regards,

Mark
