PT2023.9 on best on Monterey or Ventura?
-Did I read somewhere that 2023.9 was no good on Monterey?
-Is Ventura or Monterey better for 2023.9? Cheers Mac Studio 2022_M1 Ultra_1tb_64gig |

Re: PT2023.9 on best on Monterey or Ventura?
No experience with Monterey, my MAC STUDIO came with Ventura.
Working splendidly. And I’d venture a guess (pun intended) that 2023.9 was coded with Ventura in mind. |

Re: PT2023.9 on best on Monterey or Ventura?
I find Ventura to be more solid and snappity-fast than Monterey.

Re: PT2023.9 on best on Monterey or Ventura?
Anyone tried a comparison on an Intel Mac, please? I suspect Ventura is only 'snappier' on Apple Silicon, but I'd like to be proved wrong.
I'm on Monterey, Mac Pro 2019 and want to be sure Ventura will be an improvement and worth upgrading, once all plugins are actually compatible...

I don't have Intels here any longer, but my trusty buddy says the last Ventura update is very good on Trashcan.

Re: PT2023.9 on best on Monterey or Ventura?
Hi guys, I have been setting up a new HDX system on a 16 core 2019 Pac Pro with Ventura 13.6. Latest PT Ultimate and everything is clean installed.
2TB system drive, Samsung 990 NVMe drives on OWC PCIe adapter cards - one for sessions and one for sample libraries, 384G Ram, Radeon Pro W5700X 16G Video Card. I have had a number of crashes testing and authorizing plugins. I am not even playing anything and the session is completely empty except for a few Native Instruments. I did have a number of desktops open. This is a bit unsettling as my last system crashed maybe once a week in heavy use. Could anyone advise please? Thanks so much in advance! |

I did a completely fresh install of the latest version of Ventura and installed all software and plugins as fresh installs from the internet (Native Instruments Komplete Collectors Edition, Waves, PA, Sonnox, UA, Melodyne, AT, Pro Tools 2023.9 (tried both drivers 2023.3 and 2023.9), Superior Drummer, Keyscape, Stylus RMX, Omnisphere, XO, Stream Deck, Slate Digital, etc. etc.). Back Blaze, Time Machine. After days and days of installing software, my system became extremely unstable. It kept losing my Kensington Wireless Mouse connection and the system would just lock up for 30 second intervals ever so often. When I would boot up, it would take almost 20 minutes (Big Sur takes about 45 seconds) and then often crash before it loaded. For 2 weeks, I tried every single thing I could think of. I wiped the drive clean again and installed Ventura and imported settings. At first it was running great with fast bootups, but after a short period of time, it started having all of these issues all over again. I started uninstalling any apps that I felt could be the culprit, I removed all startup apps. I unplugged all hardware from my computer (including my HDX card and Sonnet M2 card) and booted the OS from an external NVME card reader and I still had the same issues. I took my computer into the Apple store and they said everything on the hardware side checked out. I learned about the Samsung 280 Pro's having bad firmware. I checked that and the new Samsung 280 Pro Drive I am using has the latest firmware, although I found out that my sampler drives are using old bad firmware which I am hoping to update the firmware today. (I have to go use a friends windows machine as apparently there is no way to update NVME firmware on a Mac). After losing thousands of dollars trying to figure this all out, I am back on Big Sur on the same computer with my previous hard drive and everything is running amazing. I am not sure why it was such a nightmare on Ventura for me. It seems that everyone else seems to be having an amazing time with Ventura. But I just thought I would post my experience as it has been horrible and I have run out of things to test or try.
