Default How to configure HD io in Windows

How does this work in Windows 10?

Mac has the Core Audio App, which doesn't produce sound but at least let's you configure the inputs of the HD io,

Anyone?

Within the pro tools hardware configuration settings. I am not aware if Windows 10 has a core audio feature.

Wow ok, so only via the PT app itself?

With a cable coming out of my computer to the patchbay. It's normalled into my monitor controller aux or can patch it into my HD I/O if needed. Makes the core audio whining seem silly don't it . Configuring is done in PT's hardware section.

Default How to configure HD io in Windows

Yeah that's what I was trying to setup, but I wanted to change the Encl to Optical Spdif which is what's on my mobo....and I didn't know I had to start PT to get to those settings....

I assumed that there was a stand alone app, to set that up....but I guess not.

Also I have heard that I need to disable my interface from being the default sound playback device (in the win OS).....is this still true in win10?

Yes, still true. Reason is you can't share audio devices. If it's the default in Windiws, it's being accessed by Windows at all times. So it needs to be disabled in order to change settings such as sample rate in PT .

It is if you are using an ASIO interface but if you are using HD you dont need do worry because HD hardware wont appear as a system audio device as there are not WDM/MME drivers for HD hardware.
Oh and there is no standalone app to configure because there's no point, the hardware doesn't work for anything but Pro Tools.
