Default Annoying High Frequency Out on MBOX MINI!!!!

I am rather upset. I bought the MBox mini Monday and I have been trying to figure out what is causing this ridiculous high Fz sound and its the Mbox Mini itself. I went to the store (Guitar Center) and they had one hooked up. It made the same annoying high Fz sound!!!!

How do you solve this problem??? Should I return the unit????

And its not the cables bc we tried them at the store, no matter WHAT we did it was still there in the output. And it did not get recorded into the tracks so its not coming 'in' from anywhere.

Is this the quality you expect from Digidesign????

I am on a desktop. And I saw the problem at guitar center as well which leads me to believe that all the units are like this. What do you recommend? Should I take this defective piece of equipment back or someone from Digidesign can come up with a better solution?

Did you by chance try out the Mbox 2 or Mbox 2 Pro when you were at the store?

No, those units are at least 50%+ more than the mini. I would think that the Mini would be a GOOD QUALITY product.

I would really like Digidesign to reply to my post as well... Is this something that Digidesign knows about and is planning to fix? or is this something that they will hope people don't make a big deal about?

My Mbox 2 Mini is silent. Is the noise coming from the Mbox 2 Mini itself (the device with no monitors connected) or from the output to the monitors (heard only when the powered monitors are on)?

Guitar Center currently has a bundle deal on the Mbox 2 that may be a better deal than the Mbox 2 Mini. You get the Mbox 2 plus a pair of M-Audio BX5 active monitors and a large diaphram condenser mic (forgot the brand right now) for $599.00. The monitors sell for $299.00 separately and the mic should be worth at least $150.00 - $200.00 so your cost for the Mbox 2 comes to only $100 - $150! That's better than the $275.00 street price of the Mbox 2 Mini. I would have went this way had I not bought the Mini a month ago. You may still be able to exchange since you bought it only on Monday. Hopefully that solves your noise issue too.

I had a high pitched noise that would only come through the monitors/ headphones.
After i moved my setup to a new location it went away.
Dirty power on the outlet was causing it and white noise on my recordings.
Do you have a Power Conditioner ?
I would suggest making sure you have good power and everything is grounded.Another thing ,although not likely ,that can make interference noise is the power supply for the PC itself.

Good Luck.
