Default Chaining Mic Pres w/ FW1814 in PTMP

I am running OS X w/ PTMP and own a FW1814. I need to add at least 2 (possibly 3) mic pres to this setup.
What devices can I chain (I'm assuming digitally/lightpipe) to add pres? Do I have to get another M-Audio device? another 1814?
There has to be a way to add pres on a budget. Please advise any and all suggestible configurations.
Thanks.

Why not just chain a mic pre's 1/4 outputs to your firewire 1814 1/4 inputs on the back?

I was planning to do the same thing. But do you know how good the build-in preamps are ? - I mean how much should one pay to get a preamp thats better ?

The best bang for the buck in preamps is probably the Behringer ADA8000. 8 mic pre's with 24-bit A/D for around $230. I've got one hooked via ADAT to my 1814, and the pre's are at least as good if not better than those on the 1814. They're surprisingly transparent. It's a real bargain.

JoePaz, do you know how the pre's on the 1814 compare to the 001, mbox, and 002r? The 1814 looks ideal to replace my 001 if the pre's are at least the same....btw, for you other guys, the behringer got a very favourable review in sound on sound.

Thanks, mig
