I can confirm I am having the same error on the west coast. it appears there are performance issues with license activations according to the iLok status dashboard. But there are is ETA to resolve the issue I can see.

Yep, looks like iLok.com etc. is down. They have been warning about some kind of scheduled maintenance recently, I have no idea what/when exactly that was or if it's related.

Here is iLok's status page: https://status.ilok.com (it's suffering as well but eventually shows it's aware of problems).

Everything working great here on my iLok dongle. I've lost count of how many times I've advised against using Cloud licensing.

Fairly nonconstructive at the moment. There are situations where it is needed. Regardless, if you just made a purchase and need to transfer the assets onto your ilok your in the same situation. So please consider your advice before you give it.

Yes, I do remember seeing the notice. I didn't remember the downtime taking place in the middle of the day on a weekday. That would just be poor planning.

I can get to the ilok site. They do have a disclaimer concerning connectivity issues. Check here https://status.ilok.com

And there are situations where it is not needed... and that is likely a lot of use of end-user iLock Cloud licensing. For every other use including purchase of iLok licensed software. etc. we stand in line and wait. No choice there.

Good luck discouraging vendors using (addicted to) iLok licensing to use something else, buy something with different licensing it if that is an option.

Yup, this. Every one of us relies on iLok to a greater or lesser extent.

I think it was about 10 years ago when there was the Great IT Disaster that nearly put some post houses out of business. Only those who never connected to the iLok servers were safe. There was no subscriptions then, put people need to connect all the time for other reasons. Everything got scrambled, including permanent licenses, and the fiasco lasted weeks.

At least things seem back up now after this outage - hopefully a relatively short lived blip. Still, a reminder of the precariousness of it all, especially for subscribers and anyone who uses the cloud.
