Default Native TB - can you remove the card from the box?

Wondered if any brave DUC'er's have opened up the Thunderbolt native box to see if the card can be removed, and whether it's just the same as the PCI-e one? I only ask as I have need to run both on an iMac with thunderbolt and also use in the intel mac pro.

I'd say the odds are very good that its a simple PCIe box with the thunderbolt connection(probably sourced from Sonnet or Magma) but I don't have one to take apart. The Mac Pro doesn't have TB? Maybe sell it and update to a Mac Pro WITH tb to save you the hassle

currently the Mac Pros don't have Thunderbolt, the new ones are suppose to (when ever they ship)

the HDN box has the headphone jack, make me think it's a bit more specialized but I don't know

If it could be removed, I don't think it would be an ideal solution.

You might be better off buying a used Native card (without software) on Ebay, then switch your HD interfaces back and forth between computers.

... or get a PCIe card and a TB to PCIe adaptor box from Sonnet, Magma or OWC

This is the better solution. Unlike the Avid box, the 3rd party TB boxes have 2 ports allowing you to actually daisy chain TB device, and removing the PCIe card is fairly simple.
