Re: -9155 'too much automation' error message
We're getting some similar behavior. -9155 and sometimes 9092-94 errors.
HDX 1 system on (unqualified) Mac Pro 1.1 (dual 2.66 GHz) on OSX 10.7.2 and PT10.1.0 We were on 10.1.2, but reverted to 10.1.0 because of another error. We have an escalated case with support going right now, will post back with any progress. The error really seems unrelated to automation. It pops when in a region with little or no automation, and does not pop when going over a region with ludicrous amounts of automation. Frankly it seems random. Playback continues normally after pressing OK. Originally it was popping every 5-20 minutes of continuous playback. After installing the new 192 and HDX card (originally was an old 192 and a loaner HDX card), the error pops every 20-60 minutes of playback. Single CPU, highest Buffer, highest disk cache seems most stable. Will update to OSX 10.7.3 on Monday and test again. Will also be trying a qualified rig next week. Could be similar behavior PaulV points out caused Avid not to qualify Nehalems: http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=315120&page=3 |

Re: -9155 'too much automation' error message
Some progress-after doing a bootable clone with Carbon Copy Cloner, we updated to OSX 10.7.3 and to PT 10.1.3. Since then we've seen fewer errors overall.
The best playback engine settings so far have been 3 procs of 4, and a 99% max CPU. That gives -9155 errors starting as soon as 27 minutes after playback, but often no playback errors for a full 90-minute session. Let's call it a 1 in 3 failure for a 90-minute playback. 10.1.3 seems to have improved communication with the HDX card. Again, the amount of automation in the session doesn't relate to the error. |

Re: -9155 'too much automation' error message
I had the same errors with HDX1 on an unsupported mac.
finally i found that there are no errors when i deactivated a certain plugin (flux analyser). seems that this plugin is not compatible with hdx. try to deactivate your plugins, perhaps you use an uncompatible one with hdx... |

Re: -9155 'too much automation' error message
Still having the error pop up every 10-15 minutes. Can't seem to figure out the issue.
Digi Tech Support? You there?

Re: -9155 'too much automation' error message
We're still getting -9155 errors, after moving the session onto a supported, current 8-core Mac Pro 5,1. No 3rd-party plug-ins installed.
No traction yet with Avid support, but our reseller's helping escalate. We're down to isolating Avid plug-ins. This could take a looong time because the error sometimes doesn't pop up for a 90-minute playback. |

Re: -9155 'too much automation' error message
Just to add to the list, particularly as I have never gotten this error before upgrading to 10.1.3 on sessions created with previous versions/releases. I have to agree with what someone noted previously that it doesn't seem to be automation related. On my 'testing' session, there's no 3rd party plugs and the only automation is volume changes, and they're really thin.

Re: -9155 'too much automation' error message
We've been getting this error as well, even on a clean session with 1 track and no plugins; has anyone switched over to 10.2 and noticed a difference?

Re: -9155 'too much automation' error message
I was getting this error in earlier versions. Since upgrading to 10.2, I haven't seen it since, knock on wood. Also running OSX 10.7.4....
