How do I treat or correct the room? How do I use audio analyzing tools?

Check out this youtube video series for home recording studio treatments. You should get an idea for treating a room.

guitars and lead vocals are good, the drums are buried Especially the kick and snare and the bass isnt defined. the backing vocals are not distinct. dont know if you wanted them that way or not.

Most of the problem here i think is the drum sounds.

One more thing concerning monitors. Some have switches on the back. Yamaha nearfield reference monitors for example. What are they for and in what circumstances do I use them?

my Mackie monitors have switches for where the monitors are in the room,
backed up against a wall, on a desk in the center of a room, or in the corners of a room not on the desk. They also have switches for low freq, high freq and acoustic freq. If your mixes are too bright or to dull, you can decrease or increase the high freq, I can also adjust the input sensitivity and the power standby mode.

The monitors adjust to how they are in the room to help you tune the monitors to how the room makes them sound.

Most quality monitors will have some switch settings on the back. The manual that comes with them will explain the switches. Monitor brands will have different switches and adjustments.

Thanks guy. Makes perfect sense and really just substantiates what I thought. Guess the best thing to do is listen to my mixes in my car-Adjust the monitors accordingly that's what they say. In most cases I'm guessing you want to use the balanced out on your interface. Still a bit of the learning curve. Don't know anything about input sensitivity and all those other things you mentioned. my interface has quarter inch balanced outputs. I'm guessing you just use a stereo ring sleeve or some kind of adapter would be nice to know what I need to keep them outputs balance-guessing some monitors have quarter-inch balanced inputs as well as XLR.

my monitors have XLR balanced inputs, 1/4 inch inputs and RCA. I use XLR to 1/4 inch cables to go from my interface to my monitors. The XLR plugs into the monitors, the 1/4 inch end plugs into my interface.

Balanced is best i think.
