Default DA88 TDIF Out to 192 TDIF IN

Hello-

I am trying to dub from a DA88 to Pro Tools HD via a 192 interface and am getting absolutely no input to the 192. I bought a HOSDBK-315 Hosa TDIF dubbing cable and hooked up the DA88 to the 192. I also connected the DA88 word clock out to the 192 ext clock in. In hardware setup, I went to "digital" and chose "TDIF". I went to the I/O and set A1-2 to TDIF 1-2, A3-4 to TDIF 3-4, etc. And I get absolutely no signal. Any ideas would be greatly helpful!

Here's a solution I dug up from an old post of mine. You can clock several ways for getting audio into the 192 via TDIF from a DA-88, but this is the only way to have it work in both directions...

1) Connect TDIF from the 192 digital card to the DA-88.

2) ProTools can be master clock (internal) or locked to something else (except the DA-88)

3) Connect Word Clock from the 192 External Clock out to the DA-88 Word Clock In. Terminate at the DA-88 input with a BNC 'T' and 75 ohm terminator. I know this seems wrong to double terminate, but the Tascam WC input circuit is part of the problem.

4) In the Hardware setup window, set the Ext. Clock Output to Word Clock (tdif). This is in the lower right hand corner of the Main page of the hardware setup. This changes the timing of the clock output by 90° to make it work.

Problems:
-Cannot use legacy peripherals, because they force the 192 Ext Word Clock out to be 256x fs.

-Cannot lock the DA-88 to something else, like video.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have further questions.

Jeff

Thank you for the suggestion! I went ahead and set up the clock path as you suggested, and everything seems to be getting clock, but I am still not getting any actual audio signal from the DA88 into the pro tools. I have checked the hardware setup, it is set for Digital input, TDIF and the inputs are TDIF 1-8 on the "main"tab. The I/O setup is routing the TDIF to A1-8 and there are 8 tracks, each set for input A1 to A8. This certainly should work. I have combed the DA88 manual and it does not indicate that you have to change a menu or switch anywhere to have audio output from the TDIF....

Suggestions?
