Default please explain these update plans to me

$1,299.00 Pro Tools | HD Annual Subscription (Shippable Box w/ Card and iLok)Save money when you commit to 12 months. Access to new releases, bonus plug-ins and support for one year.
then there is this one
$1,300.00 Upgrade Reinstatement Plan
Includes the Pro Tools DigiLink I/O license and 12 months of software updates.
im on HD9 but i DO have a HDX card and HD 16x16 analog and yes im aware HD9 is not compatable with HDX.
So which of those is better for me and please explain the differences. Remember when upgrading was fun for 299

Canadian dollars...

The annual subscription will stop working after one year (unless you pay another $1,300 Canadian dollars).

The reinstatement plan includes one year of updates, but is perpetual. You will be able to continue using the last update you receive during your year of updates...perpetually.

If you want to continue to receive updates, you will need to renew every year. (In U.S. dollars, it will cost $399 to renew each year.)

If you can reinstate, it should be a no-brainer. Plus, you would be entitled to use the "Pro" series plug-ins during your active HD plan.

Do they both come with the digilink i/o also the first one comes with an ilok and is a shippable box. but you say I dont get the pro series plugs in that . the second does come with pro serioes but only if i keep the plan going? but i also get to keep the last update? does this mean if I buy this now and it does go to HD13 within that year I will get HD13 forever but will only get the pro series plugs for the year term and no longer.

I have a subscription for the "vanilla" Pro Tools (that was included with a piece of hardware), but both my HD PT licenses are perpetual. The vanilla version subscription includes fewer plug-ins. If you are considering the HD subscription, you should check with Avid for specifics. I do not work for Avid, just have the licenses.

The rest of your questions sound like you are on the right track. No iLOK included if you reinstate.

Avid has a history of tweaking the fees, so make sure of what you want to buy.

Lots of speculation on a major update, cannot go there.

Also, do not double-post in more than one forum section. Against forum rules.

Pick up the phone and call a sales rep at Sweetwater or Vintage King and talk with them about your options and needs. Make it clear you are in Canada. That is what they are there for...

I never said that.

Being new to the forum, you may not be aware of all the resources you can link to from within the forum:

1) Take a look at the top of page, and find where it says "Additional Resources" (in between the woodduck and the AVID logo).

2) Click there and look for a link called "Pro Tools documentation" (you may have to scroll down). Click on that and you will get many "hits" inside of the "Knowledge Base."

3) Find the one that says "Pro Tools Licensing FAQ" (you may have to scroll down) that is dated "August 24."

4) Highlight the hot button for "Pro Tools HD."

5) The next screen has subheadings. Click the one for "Subscription."

6) Click the one that says, "Are the bonus plug-ins included with Pro Tools subscriptions?"

7) At this point, there is a re-direct that is somewhat vague because it offers an unclear explanation.

So I would have to say, "Good luck!"
