Default Control from a Tablet PC

The subject says it all... I need to know if it is possible to run the standalone software on a tablet pc and use the "pen" to interact with it...

Thanks in advance for any answers...

That would be good except I have yet to buy a tablet PC (let alone a venue system, its in the budget for this year and should get to place the order shortly). As this would only be used for control of the venue and creation of session files, I NEED to KNOW if it will work before I take the plunge and buy a tablet PC.

The reason I ask is caring around a tablet would be easier to work on if I am standing ( which I do most of the time through out a room).

Aha-- that does present a problem. I am sure once Sheldon gets on here he can give you an accurate answer. (I am 90% sure it will work)

Just checked with a friend and he has used his Tablet PC with a WIFI router at a casino in Minneapolis and said it works quite spectacularly.

Scott

Good Luck on the purchase, you will love the Venue

Thanks for your help and information on this.

Yeah I can't wait, went up to LA back in June and ended up spending close to 8 hours just goofing around on it. In a word I was in LOVE.

After spending time on a 5D and taking classes on the 1D I feel the venue offers what I need especially now that the aviom card is available.

Hi Jon,

A tablet PC will definitely work, as others have already answered. You just need to install the VNC client (provided w/ the ECx software) and configure the WiFi settings and you're mobile.

The question & the title are not quite in line.
The standalone software allows you to create/edit show file settings, but not to remote control a system. To remote control a console, you need to run a VNC client software (such as the ones we provide with the ECx option).
The standalone software requires XP SP1 or later, running native or on some PC emulator.
You can remote control your system using any device that offers a VNC client software, which includes XP & Mac OS X.

In both cases, you may want to make sure that your device has a screen resolution of 1024x768 or more (which shouldn't be a problem, except for some exotic device such as the new UMPCs, the "ultra mobile PCs" with smaller screens). If it doesn't, you will not be able to run the standalone SW and it will be painful to remote control a console because you won't be able to see the whole screen at once.
