I ran a ton of plugs (including the creative collection) on both my old core duo 2 machine (2009) and the first core duo 2 iMac, but had a lot of -6101 errors at first (to the point where I couldn't run anything, that's what prompted me to try the conversion cable route). You could try it, but you would need 2 conversion cables, one from the Mac to the HD and one from the HD to the 2626. I would hate for you to waste you money and have that not work though.

Plug-ins could definitely be an issue - did you see the specific info in the General Troubleshooting thread regarding plug-ins, including the reply that goes into more detail?

FireWire may also be contributing to the problem - you should not have any FW800 connections in the chain. You should try using a FW800-FW400 cable to the 2626, then out from the 2626 FW400 to the FW400 port on the 2626. If that doesn't work I'm afraid that, most likely, you'll need to get a drive with 2 FW400 ports on it and chain it between the computer and the 2626.

You can get FW800-FW400 cables at Monoprice for $4.50 each.

What if I chained this way:

Macbook pro
FW800/FW400 cable to 2626 (400 port)
then
2626 (400 port) to (400 port) on HD?

I would try it - I've used my 2626 that way before and it worked fine.

Worth a try, just be aware that if you shut down the 2626 before the write buffers have cleared in your host you risk losing or corrupting session data, make sure that PT is shutdown and perhaps your MAC before shutting off your 2626.
