Default Delay compensation and Sync

Has anyone experienced poor sync with picture and or other machines when using delay compensation. Specifically large delay times. For instance, Waves X-crackle TDM on an insert with latency of over 4000 samples at 48k ( 2 frames late at 24fps ). Using the large delay buffer, all audio on this system played back about two frames late when checking with the pop on the recorder. I wound up not using the delay comp and nudging the audio on the tracks in question.

The systems in question are PT HD7 Accel v6.9 using the large delay buffer.

Digi

Is delay comp safe to use with multiple systems and when locked to picture, or is this just a music feature?

Default Re: Delay compensation and Sync

here is a thread from a while back that will answer your questions:

PREVIOUS ADC & POST THREAD

specifically, DaveP answers the questions and DIGI chimes in.

i find with NR plugs, i HAVE to slide the audio back. i make a dulpicate playlist, note my changes and slide the audio (previous list contains original poition). you can also print to track. your large delay, is it more than 4095? if it is, you will have to slide.

hope this helps!

Indeed, if you have fixed settings on your X-crackle, duplicate the track, open Audio-Suite. copy settings, process all audio, unplug Waves on copied track and make original track inactive - this way you have original audio with the right plug-in setting on inactive track and processed audio without any delay on copied track. As I rememeber plug-ins with complicated Dsp such as NR plugs used to have variable delay as the plug's setting are changed, so if you use parameters' automation, be carefull about the sync because it may change...
