Default Difference between motion sensitive and touch sensitive faders?

I know it has been touched on before, but I couldn't find the thread. Please explain the difference between the fader sensitivity of the Control 24 and Motor Mix. Thankyou.

The C24 faders start writing info as soon as you touch the fader. The Motor Mix only starts writing info after you have moved it.

For instance, with a touch sensitive fader you can simply touch it to stop it. With motion sensitive you have to grab and move it which changes the level in the best case and which can be a real problem if the fader is already in motion. Touch sensitive is much better.

The JL Cooper 3800 is touch sensitive. Are there any 3800 users who could offer their feelings about the unit?--Thanks

If you press the SHIFT button on the Motor Mix, it will drop any track that's enabled for automation writing into write. It's not as graceful as touch-sensitive faders, but it does work. Also, I've found that you can let your fingers "ride" the Motor Mix fader without causing it to write and at the precise moment you need to punch in on the automation, you press the SHIFT button. It's really hard to do that on a fast moving touch-sensitive fader (you can't "ride" the fader without going into write.)

Thanks Matt--so I take it that you're satisfied with MotorMix for the mostpart?

It's pretty cool for such a small box. But it's not as nice as a Pro Control!
