Default Osx vs Win7 efficiency?

Has anybody compared the two operating systems efficiency wise with pro tools?
snow leopard-windows 7

Until they release a Win7 64 compatible version of PT and a couple of cs releases any comparisons are going to be academic at best.

XP used to be a bit more efficient than OSX but I suspect that Win7 and OSX will be about neck and neck. OSX is has had the benefit of years of fine tuning where Win7 is fairly new.

In general it would seem that businesses are beginning to adopt Win7 to replace XP and theres a service pack in currently in Beta for Win7. I suspect that SP1 will provide some tangible performance gains.

More than anything how well PT runs on Win7 is probably going to boil down to how much effort Digi puts into it.

I really hope that after this long wait, they put huge efforts into it.

Well it is the way forward at this point. The other thing is that much like Intel Microsoft has type of "Tick-Tock" strategy where both the Server and Desktop products share technology.

I just downloaded the beta for Windows Home Server v2 (codenamed Vail) - its 64bit only. Scuttlebutt is that Win8 - which will be in beta this summer will be 64bit only also.

To be honest, I really considering switching back to windows, if win7 will deliver the results.

The reasons are:
1. Macs, here in our part of the world are expensive. To be honest, very expensive

2. Their support/service is not even funny how bad here. Usually it is better to find a real pro to service your mac, rather than the official one.

3. The first official point where I can get some support is a few hundreds of kilometers from here. Apple did not even care to have service points in bigger towns

These three is more than enough for me.
