Ways to view gain reduction?

Is it possible to view gain reduction on the D-Command next to pre or post fader metering on the meter bridge of each channel that has plug in compression or limiting inserted on it? Thanks!

any time a strip is in 'Dyn' mode the meters switch over... you also need to make sure "GRChan" under the console meter prefs button is set to on...

Sorry, I'm lost... When I select the console meter pref button I see SndMtr - on, VCAMtr - on, CtrMtr - Output, InsMtr - on, Meters PostFd, RefLvl... but no GRChan. Am I looking in the right place? I'm not sure I'm clear on what you mean by 'Dyn' mode either. Do you mean when your channel insert is selected on a Dyn plug in? Thanks Colin!

hmmm... we might have different firmware versions on the ICON ... on mine: when you hit meter in the console prefs section GRChan is on the lower right softkey... maybe its on the second page of console meter prefs (just hit 'meter' again)?

if you hit the 'dyn' button on the channel strip so that the encoders show the dynamics plug parameters, thats when the meter up top switches over...

Colin, Are you on a D Command or Control? I'm on a D Comand and it doesn't have a dyn button and I'm guessing the same goes for the GRChan soft key...

Display of the amount of gain reduction on the meterbridge in insert mode is I afaik D control only.


However, and I'm not 100% sure of this but in Custom Fader Plugin mode I think D command will display all plugin metering as well. So if you were to open up a dynamics plugin in CF mode then you would see the GR channel as well

You should check this ...
