Pls Help - Lost Input Signal on 001???

Hi -

I cannot receive an input signal thru my 001 interface suddenly. I've been installing new, unrelated software on my computer and this is the first time I've booted Pro Tools since and I can't get an input signal.

I tried direct thru input 1, and all of the line level inputs and there is no signal showing on the meters.

I can play back all of my sessions succesfully, I just can't get any input.

I checked My Computer>Control Panel>System>Device Manager and under sound,video,and game controller there are 2 Digi001s listed. The properties on the first state "this device is working properly". The second says "the dalvxd.vxdm, ntkern.vxd device loader for this device could not load the device driver".

Any idea what the hell this could be? I have a session later today and I'm sweating, big time.
I don't want to have to reinstall this, can you please help out?

Generally, when there are duplicate entries for the same device in Device Manager the solution is to delete all of the duplicate entries and then reboot. When you reboot the Add New Hardware Wizard should detect the device and allow you to load the drivers for it. That usually corrects this type of problem.

Before you do this make sure you know where to find the drivers for the device.

What i would do is this:

Shutdown system and remove the pci-card

startup in safe mode and remove protools ans its drivers. Also remove the digi001 drivers.

boot again
shutdown again (to let your system remove any remains)

install everything like it was the first time.

I can understand you dont want to reinstall protools, and that you are afraid that you loose your plugins. But my personal experience is that uninstalliong and reinstalling ptle takes about 5 minutes (including one reboot), and your plugins will probably be fine (mine where...)

Thanks for the advice guys. I did what you said and it works now. That was really strange - I still have no idea what caused it.
