Default Re: 2018.7 update fixes the DSP spikes (mac)!

I am curious if people can record without cpu spikes on Mac 10.3.4+ with 2018.7.

Are you able to run a session with at least 80 audio files at 64 samples without any stop?
I see that you run the HDX with a 5.1 mac like me
I'm totally with you, it's bad for some, not for others. I jumped on a friends HDX 5,1 rig, who reported it was fine.. he only works at 48k.

Quickly did a test session put one audio track into a blank session @96k with a buffer of 128, and it was spiking at 22-30%, that's one single track of audio!

At 48k it was a lot better.. but this is PT HD? .. damn! that got dropped!

so just to be certain, one needs 10.13.x to be able to update to PT 2018.7?

See http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/c...tibility-Chart – it works with 10.11.6, 10.12.6 and 10.13.3. I'm running on 10.12.6 and it is working no worse than 2018.4, I never try my luck at low buffer sizes though (I do not go below 512 samples at 96k).

This update (so far) has GREATLY reduced CPU spikes for my lowly system.
