PT|24 / NT - Why is there no wavedriver ?????
OK.
I' was about to upgrade, and now, I hear from several people that there's no way one can go into soundforge ; process with (DX plugins), play back audio always inside soundforge and then preapre files for CD mastering... Why the DAE for NT won't allow us to use other digital audio editing softwares? here's what I meant in global: I record, edit and process all audio tracks INSIDE PT24 and then bounce to disk in stereo.. Now If i wanna plack back those files on my system ...can I use soundforge and then burn them later to CD with the CD Architect plugin? Hope that this is gonna be supported!! Else....hmmm

You will need to contact the manufacturers to see if they have updated their products to be compatible with Protools NT

What exactly do you mean, TechSupt? You didn't write NT driver for it?

Re: PT|24 / NT - Why is there no wavedriver ?????
Sorry for that tech suppt but, I cannot understand your last reply.
I mean, I can't afford to BUY pro tools|24 and then have no way to playback standard waves on my PC! this is absurd! There are 2 PCI cards in PT|24 Core: 1 D24 and 1 DSP Farm ..so why cant these cards output audio in third parties such as Sounforge 4.5 or the little media player of windows!?!... I'll guess I'll have to stick with An old SB64 in order to output audio in Forge...this is completely crazy! The same thing applies to all the midi interfaces..I have an OPCODE STUDIO 64XTC which WONT be supported under Windows NT 4.0 until OPCODE themselves wake up and write a REAL driver for it... So from what I understand, I'll buy Pro Tools|24 and then : LOSE EVERYTHING ELSE AROUND IT that is my MIDI/SYNC interface AND NO WAVEDRIVER... Something must be done before I actually -UPGRADE-.

Re: PT|24 / NT - Why is there no wavedriver ?????
We are currently working on the Wave Drivers for PT|24. I don't have a release date but they will probably be out around the end of the year.

Re: PT|24 / NT - Why is there no wavedriver ?????
This is funny but this thread looks exactly like one for Session 8 some years ago.
People discovered that their system wouldn't work with DirectX and techsupport answered that it wasn't their problem, we had to ask for the software manufacturer to support Session 8. And the "...around the end of the year" is even funnier considering how much time we had to wait for a so-called update to Session 8. |

Re: PT|24 / NT - Why is there no wavedriver ?????
I must agree. It's very amusing to hear that Digi are currently working on the Wave Drivers for PT|24, when indeed AMIII PC owners and session 8 users are the ones who are probably the most interested in these new products. By the way Digi have no word on if or when the AMIII will work with PT for NT. So basically the card is useless unless you want keep working with session software 2.5, which I must say I like although it's looking a little limited feature-wise these days!

Re: PT|24 / NT - Why is there no wavedriver ?????
Also funny is the fact that AMIII PC users have been waiting for a full duplex wave driver for well over a year.....they've been saying they're working on it but we haven't seen anything yet. I wouldn't hold my breath - digidesign is way too slooooowww when it comes to releasing PC drivers.
Very poor track record. |

Re: PT|24 / NT - Why is there no wavedriver ?????
Why there's no wave driver???
Simple. Digi just can't make PC products. Period. If anyone has any reason to believe this PT/NT thing will work out, after all Session8 and/or AMIII users have gone through, say it out loud. I, somehow, still foolishly hoping for DIGI to prove my previous statement wrong. Well, I hope they have intention to prove me worng... |

Re: PT|24 / NT - Why is there no wavedriver ?????
Jsuh - you are damn wrong.
I just attended a DIGI conference in Montreal today, showing off the new Pro Tools MIX+ and PT24 on Win NT and let me tell you that the system on NT REALLY ROCKS! The software (NT)looks much more faster, and the graphics are much cleaner than the MAC version. I even tried it right there on their workstation, loaded a demo session, converted many audio files, did automation on all parameters and everything else! IT ROCKS! Digidesign CAN make PC products. Period. They just proved it right there!
