Default PT 12.8 send level doesn't follow the automation

It happened to me twice already. Once at the client screening.

The problem is that the automation doesn't follow its actual lane status. There are two chronological regions: A followed by the B. The "A" has set a send level to reverb Bus (Exponential Surround Verb). The "B" has no sending, set to 0. When the playback arrives to the "B" there still reverb sending both audible and in the send meters in a PT mixer.
When hitting stop and playback again, everything playbacks correctly.
Difficult to re-produce but does happen occasionally to me.
Never happened in PT prior v 12.8.

This happened a lot to me at some point (somewhere between PT 11 and 12.4). Not just sends working (or not working), but also an entire bus/aux not working, or just one channel. This happened until I rebuild my startup template from scratch. That particular template session started at PT8 and was being updated when needed.

+1 for Farhoof's post.

I've had these issues as well, sends randomly not working one leg of a 5.1 stem disappearing etc, not with 12.8 yet but with previous versions and it seems to be previous version- template related.

Pain in the bum when you've got to re-create a big film template you're happy with.

Sometimes importing all tracks into a new session can solve it as well.

Busses that stop passing audio randomly is a well known issue that has been around for a long time.

It only happens on HDX and quite often after importing tracks when the HDX engine has to re-shuffle it's "brain". It has been fixed some time ago, then came back again, then fixed, as far as I remember. Has been around since the very first days of HDX on an "on and off"-basis.

Maybe related? Are you both on HDX?

Frank.

Yep HDX here, PTHD 12.5.2 and no problems for a long while. Last version I had issues with was 12.3.1.

I am on HDn. Actually I am talking about wrong automation behavior not buses stop passing audio. In fact they work when they should not. My issue is more about the track sending audio to the Bus when its send value set to zero.

I am familiar with the tracks and buses muting bug. But this is not what I saw before.

Michael,

I just got this bug today.
I would use preview to set my reverb send levels, after writing the automation and playing back what I did, the reverb is now much more wet than when I set it in preview mode even after confirming the automation lane value is at what I set.
bug seems to be random, after creating a new track it doesn't happen anymore.
