Yes. They are going to combine Logic & Pro Tools into one app- illLogic Tools. Disappearing regions, white noise bursts, and no offline bounce at it's finest.

So...a "studio owner" walks up to the Avid booth at AES, says "hi, I'm a studio owner. Any inside news for me?"
Then an Avid employee says something like: "oh, well...since you own a studio, let me tell you this on the QT: Apple is buying Avid...don't tell anyone else, it's just between us and you."
Is that sort of how it went?

Don't make laugh out of your self.
You may also want to tell us that tomatos are now is cheaper on Carmael market, so all cucumbers farmers want to buy them.
Makes no sense and I would hesitate to spread that rumor.

Seriously Apple is not interested in pro market anymore. Their main income is from iToys. Just statistics.
And if you want rumors, then there are some serious concerns about that Apple will drop developing the MacPro line, focusing on iMacs and Mac Mini's.

I think that if it was true, there would be a lot of very worried Avid users, whose editing suites are based around Windows.

Actually, thinking about it, if Apple did buy Avid, they could easily just kill off all the applications that are in competition with FCP and Logic. Now that would be funny.
