Default Joystick recommendations?

I'm about to do some surround mixes (Pro Tools HD2, 6.9.2). Anyone found a groovey stand alone joystick / panner that they like?

the only one that I am aware outside the Yamaha DM1000/DM2000/O2r96 is the JLCooper Joystick-

I rented one from Worldlink for "The Great Raid" and it did make mixing a lot easier- the Edit Pack is much nicer, but the Cooper does get the job done...

JL Cooper MCS Panner. I use it on all my 5.1 mixes.. Works very well. It's not officially supported by Digi anymore but you can d/l the updated MIDI profile from here. Been using it with 6.9.2 and so far so good. What would make it even better would be PANNING FOLLOWING GROUPS.. ahhhh, but that's a topic for another thread.

Until our upgrade to HD on OSX we used Gallerys Axis Panner. Unfortunately Digidesign did not upgrade the profile for the Axis and we can't use the quite useful (and expensive!) panner anymore. I've looked into the MCS Panner but I'm afraid that the same thing will happen after I buy that (expensive!) panner. I don't want to buy an Edit Pack just for the joysticks.

@ Digi: is there any chance you guys (or a developer) will create a Digidesign Joystick automated controller? I'm sure there are a lot of PT users out there that would like that as an addition to their Procontrol or D-Control (it still does't have joysticks right?)?

Or is there anybody that could update the profile for the Gallery Axis panner? It seriously sucks to do surround with a mouse! I talked to Mark of Gallery and he said he can't make it work if Digi doesn't update the profile....

MCS Panner and Edit Pack can't be the only solutions right?

Ha! I mixed a movie with another Eric and the supervising sound editor was Eric. I was on the left side so we went by the nicknames LT (me) and RT (him) for the duration of the mix. The super kept his name...(where are the bgs?)

isn't there some patent issue with Harris owning the rights and therefore no one can make joystick panners? - or is that urban legend?
