Newbie Digital IO question - HD Digital i/o vs 192 Digital vs X-HD
I'm about to purchase Pro Tools HD10 with a Native Core card. I have an apogee Ad-16x/Da-16x. What is the difference for the following 3 scenarios?
1) Apogee -> X-HD card -> Native Core 2) Apogee -> HD i/o (16 digital) -> Native Core 3) Apogee -> 192 Digital -> Native Core the 2nd option is the most expensive, but do I gain anything from that? Low latency? better clocking? Any help is appreciated. |

Re: Newbie Digital IO question - HD Digital i/o vs 192 Digital vs X-HD
2nd option is the only PT11-safe option.
Old (blue) HD interfaces are likely considered 3rd party interfaces by PT11 and AVID has not made an announcement that they guarantee that old HD interfaces will work with PT11 at all. Other than that, it's just delivering digital signals. X-HD card shows up as "192" interface and works perfectly (for now) except delay compensation needs to be fixed as Apogee AD has different latency compared to DIGI AD latency. X-HD would be your easiest and cheapest bet so that's what I'd do.
