Re: 2018.12 No new features?
Sorry, can you explain hardware support? I've never, ever needed hardware support. AVID's hardware has never been their problem. Software issues seems to be their kryptonite. So, we are paying through the nose for rarely seen hardware issues? I feel better, already!

It was a very strategic move to take specific "pro" features out HD and offer it as Vanilla, knowing that those couple of missing features are just enough to keep many studios invested in HD. For instance, I could use Vanilla but I need multiple video tracks in one session, and the additional I/O. But the difference between Vanilla and HD is only a couple of things, so it's the *least* amount of technical upkeep for Avid. Capitalistically, it's a wise short term structure for them. It has cost them many customers in the long term, as we've witnessed, but they're sticking to their guns. |
