I have decided to get a 002 insted of an M-Box and I am curious as to how many rack spaces the 002 R takes up.

002r takes two rack spaces, but you should prepare yourself to using four. you likely buy a preamp sooner or later, and/or also wish to attach your firewire drive to the rack. i know, i did.

And a few more pre-amps
and some compressors
and some reverbs
and some effects processors
and some patch bays
and some eq's
and some limiters
and some AD/DA converters
and some ......

Actually 500 spaces might not be enough.

actually, no. plugins will do. most likely many people will eventually buy 8-channel preamp to go with 002r, but that's it then. it it's a quality piece, there's no need for many different preamps. at least i have no need to get anything next to my presonus digimax lt

who uses external compressors/limiters/eq:s/effects in a protools environment anyway? the device should be REALLY expensive to justify its use. i mean, something like lexicon pcm-series which cost a fortune. if somebody had that kind of money to throw into a reverb, that somebody most likely has a tdm-system to begin with.

and compression before recording, oh please...

Lots of people.

Why?

Actually, even the cheaper Lexicon boxes sound much better than most plugin reverbs, and don't tax your CPU either.

The PCM reverbs are about $2000. Much less than a TDM system...and still, many people prefer them to the sound of plugins, even within TDM systems.

Well, since you said please...

What do you have against compressing before recording?

I'm sorry, but your entire post has me in a state of utter disbelief. I don't know whether to laugh or pity your blatant display of ingnorance. Consider printing your message so that you can refer to it in the future, you might get a kick out of it. It's one thing to rejoice in what works for you and your music, but to generalise as you did above, oh please....
