G5 case mod - Hackintosh
Currently mounting my cooler - I think I will have to take the mobo out again I got the mobo panel and back plate from Mountian Mods - If you're going on modify a G5 case you have to make sure in order the 2 x 80 backplate

Re: G5 case mod - Hackintosh
Didn't know mountain mods had that type of stuff. I just used a Lain Li VC1000 when I built my tower in 2005. Still running strong 8 years later. I did flip the PSU over and cut a 120mm hole in the top of the divider. This let me turn the fan way down on the enormous Zalman Copper CPU fan.

Re: G5 case mod - Hackintosh
Yeah, this thread reminds me of my old mdd g4 with the temp readout....
I've actually been toying with another idea for a crazy mac project... not sure if I'm going to do it or not though... still have a lot of other things that are probably more important to work on.

Re: G5 case mod - Hackintosh
Interesting. A quick google search for hiwatts wiring reminds me a lot of the industrial control panels I used to wire. Everything was bundled and bent neatly, and even though it was just buttons that controlled relays, the wiring was way oversized so that it could handle the vibration and abuse it would take in an industrial setting.

Yes I'm going to wire tye everything nice and neat once it's up and running but I need to mount a few more things before I make everything final
But still even though I do my best job I know it won't look anything like the G5 that I took apart That thing was beautifully put together No extra wire slack anywhere
