Using other midi control surfaces
Hi
I would like to control automation lanes with midi controllers in PT9. Quite some plugins don't have midi control by themselves. Under Periherals -> MIDI Controllers you are limited to select five types of Midi Controllers but I would like to use just any midi generating device. I can select f.e. M-Audio Keyboard as a type and direct the receive from and send to to one of my keyboards. This will show the Map section in my plugin window with the Learn button. However, I am never able to map a midi action to one of the buttons. In my search through documentation and forums I found out that it used to be possible to select CS-10 and then use general midi devices. See f.e. this page: http://archive.digidesign.com/download/controllers. But this has not been updated since PT9. What is now the way to go to use other midi control surfaces? Thanks Guido |

Re: Using other midi control surfaces
That is the only solution, I can't use my existing midi controllers?
Avid should provide some possibility to use other hardware that talks general midi. |

Re: Using other midi control surfaces
There are Virtual Instruments that support MIDI CC (Continuous Controller) and there are Plug-Ins that require a supported Control Surface. Axiom Pro supports both of these functionalities. Ummm... your MIDI Controller will not map RTAS Plug-Ins.

Re: Using other midi control surfaces
Many fx don't have MIDI Control. And for the flow of a track it is very useful to have some knobs to control these RTAS fx. It is a bit lame that there is only one budget(?) Control Surface that will do the trick. My M-Audio ProjectMix I/O should be able to do trick with the extended MIDI Control support. Or any of my midi controllers really. Thanks anyway for the response.
