Omf & pt 2020.11
I am trying to import OMF file generated by Adobe Premiere & get this error message:
Could not complete the Import Tracks command because Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/protools/release/2020/r3/ProTools/App/PtSess/PtAAF/PtSess_AAFGeneric.cpp", line 3664. It's been a while since I imported an OMF, but there seems to be only one way to do it, and that results in this error. Does anyone have any tips on the best way to import audio as separated tracks from Premiere? Should I see if the video editor can export as AAF? Thanks |

Re: Omf & pt 2020.11
Try dragging the OMF into the tracks list on the upper right instead of using file import, It may not work but worth a shot. I started having my editor export each audio track as an omf from premier and it seemed to work the best, also look out if the editor put in cross fades in premier that can shift the audio out of place best for you to do the cross fades. Make sure they give you large handles. Have not tried this with latest pro tools but will test it ina bit to see if I get the same error and get back to you.

Re: Omf & pt 2020.11
Thanks, I ended up getting the editor to send as AAF package. That worked fine. BTW I've never understood why video editors tend to use dual mono files rather than stereo. Sitting with her while she was working, she had stereo music files on two mono tracks so fades etc needed to be duplicated. Other editors seem to do have a similar workflow. So of course the AAF export was all mono tracks, some migration to stereo tracks needed.

Re: Omf & pt 2020.11
Just a note that I'm having the exact same issue today, though with 2020.12. I'm assuming it's a corrupt OMF because of mixed bit/sample rates or inactive clips in Premiere or one of those supposedly cursed inconsistencies, but it's an error I've never seen before and I've worked with this editor many times in the past.
I've tried re-downloading, importing from a different drive, etc, but the issue persists. Here's the dialog: Could not complete the Import Tracks command because Assertion in "/Volumes/Development/protools/release/2020/r3/ProTools/App/PtSess/PtAAF/PtSess_AAFGeneric.cpp", line 3664.
