Default Pro tools 8 access violation error

Hi guys,

I would like to know if somebody know a fix for the following issue.

Yesterday I installed altiverb on my machine and then the following error message pop up when pro tools is loading:

Could not complete your request because of access violation occurred, unable to read location 0X0A,9E5,A4F at address :0X78,145,74D in module msvcr80.dll

after that the system stuck and pro tools cannot be loaded.

so i uninstalled altiverb but the same think keep popping up does somebody know a fix for this?

I use PC windows xp 2 GB ram on 003 desk.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

First, I would contact AudioEase about that right away. That's a very expensive problem to have, and it honestly surprises me from one of their plugins.

Next, you are probably going to need to uninstall and re-install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable.

And last, if that doesn't help, you will want to try to re-install Pro Tools.

If you are using PT8, I'm pretty sure you need version 6.2.0 or above.

Hey I'm getting the exact same error message and can find nothing about it strangely enough (except this post of course).

The only difference is, I'm not running any plug in's. I installed M Powered Pro Tools 8 for the first time and have not even had it up and running yet. I get that error message when I click on Pro Tools icon to open it.

I'm running a PC, 4Gb RAM, 1TB harddrive, Quad Core, Windows XP home, Service Pack 3. Should be more than enough to meet the requirements..

Any advice?
Thanks

Hi, make sure all your drivers are up to date. Also, try running the program as administrator.
I'm using Vista 32-bit SP2, and I get the same error if I don't choose, "Run as administrator." Right-click the shortcut icon and you should see it. Hope to hear some beautiful sounds in the future.
